K2 sports is scrappy. I was one of two snowboard engineers, each representing a different brand under the K2 Sports roof. As the K2 snowboard engineer, I owned all technical aspects of design, manufacturing, prototyping and testing of K2 snowboards. This included designing the shape, construction, camber/profile of each new model along with the aluminum production tooling.
With access to a prototyping shop with full production capabilities (just scaled down), I was active in managing the tooling and materials to build new models which would be tested in the lab and on-snow.
This role also took me overseas to the K2 factory in China multiple times a year, where I would manage product builds, provide training to operators as needed, buy-off new tooling and approve first articles.
more than engineering
Stretching beyond engineering, I supported marketing, sales and graphics teams by developing compelling technology stories for new models, approving product manuals and sales manuals and approving graphic details in production.
Many new models were developed with input from professional athletes and global brand ambassadors. I had the opportunity of working directly with these individuals and developed targeted field test regimens to understand impacts of changes to shape, flex and profile and construction.
